Throughout 2019, EYA has been a partner of SOLID, a project initated by EL Space in Tunisia and co-funded by the Erasmus+ program.
With the different challenges faced by most of MENA region countries, young people are witnessing the highest youth unemployment levels in the world which is explained mainly by a lack of adequate job skills needed to contribute to the development of their countries. EYA and EL Space, along with the other partners, are engaged to support youth driving social change by educating them around social innovation and technology concepts. This is achieved through creating SOLID platform, a social innovation and digital learning platform that empower youth to learn about social innovation and its practices as well as to exchange experiences and network together. In addition to that, SOLID platform project will be an opportunity to share knowledge between the European and MENA region countries which will boost the international collaboration capacities among the involves organizations.
The latest initiative of the SOLID project was a Social Innovation Voyage in Tunis, Tunisia, where EYA was represented by Anna Bodenseher and Lukas Snizek. It was a training course where the participants from all the partner organisations visited the social entrepreneurship landscape in Tunis.

“Being invited to the Social Innovation Voyage in Tunis offered me the unique opportunity to get an insight into the local start-up and innovation scene. We spent four exciting days visiting many social innovation hubs, coworking spaces and incubators. Tunis turned out to be a true melting pot for start-ups and so I came back to Austria not only with a lot of new contacts but also many impressions of the local culture and the rich entrepreneurial ecosystem.” – Anna Bodenseher
