WHAT IS A HACKATHON?
A hackathon is a gathering of creative minds (students, programmers and other interested people) for the purpose of planning, designing and creating prototypes of smart digital solutions for societal challenges together in 48 hours.

MAY I COME WITHOUT A TEAM TO THE EYA HACKATHON?
Sure! We encourage and invite you to come alone so you can collaborate with new friends and peers that may have different skills. However, you can also come with your friends as team.
I DON’T KNOW HOW TO CODE… CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?
Although having basic computer skills is helpful, coding experience is not necessary. Anyone from designers, developers, artists, business students and team supporters are welcome to join! Even if you have no experience at all, you can still contribute ideas, create a marketing concept and even give moral support to your team. The most important thing is: HAVE FUN!
WHAT SHOULD I BRING MYSELF?
Creativity, good humor and motivation! In addition, please bring your laptop or tablet and periphery (mouse, keyboard, headphones, character pad, joystick, etc), all necessary cables and adapters and whatever you think you might need.
ARE THERE ANY WORKSTATIONS?
We do not provide computers on site. Please bring your own laptop. You can of course use the wifi at the FH Salzburg. For the presentation, we provide a projector and speakers – in case you have a Mac – do not forget your adapter!
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO FINISH?
Participants will have 48 hours to work together and create something that has never been created before.
IS THERE A THEME THAT MY PROJECT WILL HAVE TO FOLLOW?
The Social Hackathon will take place from March 2-4, 2017.
A ticket for the Social Hackathon Salzburg costs 11 Euros. This includes registration for all three days, food, beverages and transport to the SN Saal.
Location & Accomodation
The Social Hackathon 2017 takes place at FH Salzburg (Salzburg University of Applied Sciences).

Arrival & Public Transfer
BY CAR & PARKING
Via highway A10 (both directions)
Take exit “Puch Urstein” and turn right at the roundabout. After 500 meters the campus appears right hand side.
Via Hallein main road: From Salzburg take the main road to Oberalm-Hallein. Pass Elsbethen and turn right at the second roundabout. After 200 meters the campus appears left hand side.
Coming from Hallein pass Puch and turn left at the roundabout (“Spar” supermarket). After 200 meters the campus appears left hand side.
Attention: Parking is limited. Please use public transfer for your arrival, if possible.
Parking fees: 0,50 Euros/30 minutes, 24-h-ticket for 12 Euros
The city railway S3 leaves Salzburg main station every 30 minutes towards Golling/Abtenau. Leave the train at station “Puch/Urstein”, which is located directly on the campus. The journey takes approximately 17 minutes.
TRANSPORTATION ON SATURDAY FROM FH SALZBURG TO SN SAAL
On Saturday at 5 pm there will be a special bus taking all participants from FH Salzburg to the venue for the Final Presentation (SN-Saal) (free of charge).
Please don’t be late because the bus cannot wait! If you miss the bus, please go to the venue on your own. There are public means of transportation – but be aware, it takes some time and you have to change lines several times!
Lunch (Friday & Saturday) is provided at FaGo restaurant at FH Salzburg (free of charge). On both days, there are two lunch times to choose from (one hour each). Please register for your preferred lunch time during check-in on Thursday.
During the day and evenings snacks & beverages are provided, including a light dinner on Friday.
