Traveling to Austria

People arriving at the Graz Airport :

The airport is located several kilometers from the city center. It takes 20 minutes to reach the
historic city center by public bus. Graz Airport is the arrival airport for many international airlines and low-cost carriers, and direct flights to Graz are available from many cities. A convenient airport shuttle also takes passengers from Vienna Airport to Graz.

People arriving at Vienna Airport:
You can easily reach Graz even from Vienna Airport. You can check the schedule here. From there you can get a bus/train to Graz, which takes around 2-3 hours. You can find the train timetable here.

Food

Lunch (Thursday & Friday): at the mensa at FH JOANNEUM (Thursday) and Chamber of Commerce (Friday) seats are reserved for all Festival participants. There are different menus to choose among. Costs are around 10 Euro. [Please note that EYA will overtake lunch costs only for winners and students participating in the online project].

Dinner (Thursday): “free evening” – please explore and enjoy Graz on your own! X-Mas markets are already open.

VIP-Cocktail & at the Gala Ceremony (Friday): snacks are provided.

There will be coffee breaks throughout the day at the conference (free of charge).

Bus & Local Transport

There will be a special EYA bus taking all participants

  • from Hotel Europa to the Chamber of Commerce on December 2 at 1.30 pm.
  • from the Chamber of Commerce to Hotel Europa on December 2 at 4.30 pm.

Times are subject of change. All changes will be announced accordingly.

Please don’t be late because the bus cannot wait! If you miss the bus, please go to the venue on your own. There are public means of transportation – but be aware, it takes some time and you might have to change lines several times!

Tickets for public transport must be stamped in a ticket validation machine. Validation machines can be found on all buses and trams and on railway platforms. Penalty fee if you have no stamped ticket on you: EUR 65,-

Graz City Tour
There will be a guided city for tour through Graz open for all Festival participants on Saturday at 12.00 pm. You are free to join this tour or explore Graz on your own. Meeting point: tram stop “Südtiroler Platz/Kunsthaus”.
Session Information

Opening Ceremony
Wednesday, Nov 29 – Graz City Hall | 6.00 pm – 9.00 pm

The Opening Ceremony of the EYA Festival 2017 takes place in the City Hall of Graz under the patronage of Siegfried Nagl, Mayor of the City of Graz.

Winners will present their project in 1 minute. After the Opening Ceremony we will stay at the City Hall for a very special keynote by Paul Hughes, supper & social networking. National clothing is most welcome (but not obligatory).

Campfire

On Thursday at 9.15 am the Campfire Session takes place. This is a very special session with several outstanding personalities (successful entrepreneurs, CEO’s of big companies, start-up founders, former winners, etc) sharing their experiences and personal stories with you and all other Festival participants.

Format: after a short introduction of all speakers 5-7 participants sit together with one speaker in a circle and have the opportunity to ask all their burning questions. After 12 minutes participants select and talk to another speaker. In total there will be 4-5 rounds. This session turned out to be the most valuable and interesting one for all participants. Please make sure to be there on time!

Winners presentations

The winners will present their project on Thursday afternoon. After each presentation (taking exactly 5 minutes) there are 5 minutes Q & A.

Student Project Workshop

After all winners presentations, there will be a special workshop for all winners and students participating in the Local Student Project.

All other Festival participants can enjoy a free evening!

Gala Evening

VIP-Cocktail with snacks starts at 7 pm. Gala Ceremony starts at 8 pm.

After Party

DJ Ivory Parker will rock the house! Be prepared to party till the break of dawn!

WLAN & Social Media

Wlan is availabe at almost all Festival venues (City Hall, Hotel Europa, Audimax). Please avoid to download/play videos as this can lead to a break down.
