Stephen Vickers holds a PhD in International Economics, is a qualified teacher, and for much of his career has been a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessment and of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators. He has had a long and varied career in educational administration, assessment and accreditation. This has included 15 years at the University or Oxford and three years at the University of Cambridge.
During the last 20 years his focus has been in higher and vocational education. He served for six years as Chief Executive of the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, three years as Chief Executive of the British Accreditation Council and six years as Chief Executive of the Vocational Training Charitable Trust.
Stephen has undertaken extensive work with European and international governments, and with agencies including UK NARIC, the ILO, and with NGOs at the UNO. He has worked on ECVET and Erasmus, and served as Treasurer and International Officer of the UK Federation of Awarding Bodies.
