Max de Boer is project manager of the Horizon 2020 project InRoad at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and assistant lecturer in strategic management at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). Besides his profession, he recently co-founded with Guxim Shoshaj the social start-up Strangers & Friends, a digital travel agency that offers customized travels and tours from Switzerland to developing and development countries. All services are in cooperation with locals and local businesses with the aim to support the local economy. The first operating country will be Albania.
Max was born and raised by his Dutch parents in Davos, Switzerland. He graduated from the University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur with a Bachelor’s degree in tourism management in 2015 and recently completed his Master’s degree in international management at the FHNW. During his studies, he worked part-time at the international office at the FHNW and thereafter completed a research traineeship at SwissCore in Brussels. Additionally, he volunteered as liaison officer of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) AISBL towards the European Youth Forum (YFJ) and was president of ESN Switzerland.
In his leisure time, he enjoys his chosen home in Berne with its many outdoor, sports and culture offers.
