#EYA17 Grand Jury Meeting started with the official Welcome Reception and first networking evening over the roof tops of Prishtina. Hosted by the Innovation Centre Kosovo, Prishtina is the location for the Grand Jury Meeting for the first time in EYA history. Over 80 Grand jury members, digital experts and international influencers, entrepreneurs, students and decision-makers joined the opening event.
They were warmly welcomed by outstanding people, who – amongst others – made the event happen in Kosovo: Lukas Mandl from the Austria-Kosovo Friendship Society, the Minister of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Besim Beqaj, the mayor of Prishtina Shpend Ahmeti, the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Ambassador Jan Braathu, the Austrian Ambassador Gernot Pflander and the ICK Executive Director Uranik Begu.
Giving deeper insights into the future perspectives of the country, they highlighted the tremendous chances of digital and social innovation and IT business in Kosovo as a boost for the national but also the European economy as well as for the young digital generation who is smart, talented and eager to learn and improve.
Feeling the positive spirit of internationality, the participants used the time to discuss their personal approaches bringing together digital innovation and social thinking. Existing connections were refreshed and new bonds were woven – the perfect start for the upcoming Digital Expert Forum and Grand Jury Meeting.
